We desire our fursonas to be authentic representations of aspects of ourselves as we explore new parts of our identity and the possibility to emulate whatever reality we may want. At the same time, this makes us vulnerable. How do we develop our fursonas in a way that is authentic and fun while protecting our privacy and staying safe? Here we present authentic anonymity - an approach to exploring the hobby without permanence, understanding the relationship of yourself to your legal identity, and exploring truth and interaction between aliases and alternate personas. We describe how doing this can help both neurodivergent and neurotypical people flourish with comfort.
